02 July 2020Church Rooms
Plans have been produced and following meetings with the architect and quantity surveyor, it has become clear that the costs involved would exceed £200,000. The Trustees have therefore put this item on hold and will explore other possibilities.
We set up a project to renovate the Church Rooms. Mr Denis Tuttle an architect specialising in historic and church buildings, kindly offered his services on a pro bono basis and prepared plans to enable us to prepare a project plan in order that we could raise the necessary finance to make this a fine facility for the use of the whole community.
It has subsequently become clear that the costs involved in this project of over £200,000 are prohibitive and cannot be fully justified
We are exploring alternative ways of making this building a useable asset for the community, but without more involvement from the community, we regret that this building will remain closed.

30 June 2020Refurbishment Project
Work has now been completed installing compliant disabled toilets next to the David Myhill Room, complete refurbishment of the ladies and gents toilet facility and upgrade of the baby changing facility. The Kitchen floor has been upgraded to align with health and safety requirements. The whole electricity system has been changed over to 3 phase supply, resulting in a safer and greater capacity to cope with the demands that are required today. Fire alarm system has been installed to make the hall fully compliant with today's safety requirements. We have also installed a new keypad entry system, so that hirers are given a code to gain access to the Hall. This new set up was recommended by our insurers.
The next stage in our plans will be to refurbish the main hall and we will be announcing plans in the New Year
The total project cost has exceeded £50,000 with funds being raised from Breckland Council, Yaxham Parish Charity and the Paul Bassham Foundation.
These improvements make Yaxham Village Hall an even more attractive proposition for your events and the community
